I am a Writer

I am a writer.

I struggle with saying these words out loud.

I struggle with telling people I have four books available on Amazon. I don’t like when the fact that I have written children’s books comes up in conversation. It makes me uncomfortable for some reason. I don’t know why.

Because they are for kids, so they don’t count as “real” writing or “real” books?

Because I first came up with the concept for these books, when I was still a child myself?

Because the main character in the series is a dog?

And what’s my reasoning for being shy about my other works? Self-advocacy has never been a strength of mine. Ask any teacher I had who had to come up with IEP goals for me. I know none of these thoughts are valid, and they often hinder my confidence and motivation as a creator.

Changing my thought process is and probably always will be a journey with no end for me. So, let me end this ramble here with these new set of thoughts…

I AM A WRITER! I do have books. And I should never stop talking about them.

If you are a reader or have a reader in your life, please consider gifting them one of my books, this holiday season.
